QMUL: Mile End campus

QMUL’s Mile End campus is just a few minutes walk from Mile End tube station. Mile End is on the District, Hammersmith and City and Central lines. It is in the heart of London’s East End, near Whitechapel and Bow, and just east of the City of London, the main financial district. The QMUL campus is also a short bus or underground ride (Central line) from Stratford and Queen Elizabeth Park, where the 2012 Olympics were held.

Tips for getting around London

Oyster card

  • The best way for you to travel around London is to get an Oyster card. This can be used on the underground and local trains and buses. It’s important to get one (or another type of TFL travel card) because you cannot use cash to pay on London buses. Oyster cards can be purchased at major underground stations and other TFL sales outlets.
  • If you have a contactless bank card, you can use this the same way that you would use an Oyster, and the fares are the same

Citymapper

  • Citymapper is a useful app for finding your way around London. It provides information on the best routes of travel to any destination, using either public transport or private hire car services. Every Londoner will have it on their phone! We recommend that you download it before you arrive (it also works in 32 other cities around the world).
